IMPS 2004 Memories
Welcome! The Psychometric Society hopes that you were able to attend IMPS 2004,
and that you found the experience both enlightening and enjoyable.
The International Meeting of the Psychometric Society was held June 14-17, 2004, at
the historic Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove (Monterey), California.
IMPS 2004 was the 69th annual meeting of the Society. The conference may be over,
but memories last a lifetime, and we have some pictures and other things here to help people remember.

These lovely ladies are the ones almost everyone saw first -- Kelly Godfrey (left) and
Carol Earey (right). They worked hard to make sure everyone got registration packets,
reasonably sized jackets, and tickets for lunches and the excursion as needed.

The Welcoming Reception was sponsored by CTB/McGraw-Hill. This was the first organized
chance for people to get together and chat, and as this photo shows people certainly
took advantage of the opportunity!

Workshops and panel sessions ran from before the official start of the meeting
till the very end. Despite the beautiful weather visible through the windows,
dedicated psychometricians from the world over flocked to these sessions to
improve their skills and be introduced to new ideas.

The Presidential Address was given on Wednesday by Willem Heiser on "Geometric
Representation of Association Between Categories". It was preceeded by the
awarding of the ETS Student Travel Award and the Dissertation Award, as well as
a public thanks by Willem Heiser to Tim and Cynthia Null for their dedication
to the Society these past 20 years.

The Banquet was also held on Wednesday, shortly after the Presidential address.
Toasts were given, short speeches made, and many took advantage of the last time
everyone would be gathered together to socialize.

Held after the official end of the conference, the bonfire party allowed
everyone who hadn't gone home one last chance to unwind together. The
s'mores were enjoyed by young and old alike, as several psychometricians took
advantage of the conference to plan a family vacation immediately following it.
Many psychometricians also took advantage of the warm jackets they'd received
at registration.
