Getting to Tilburg
- By Air:
The most convenient international airports for getting to Tilburg are Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport) and Brussels (Zaventem). Limited flights from the UK are available to nearby Eindhoven.From the airports there are frequent trains to Tilburg (from Schiphol Airport every 30 mins; from Zaventem, every hour):
- From Eindhoven airport, local bus 401 (daytime 4 per hour, from 18.00h to 23.30h 2 per hour) will bring you from Eindhoven Airport to Eindhoven Railway Station in 25 minutes (see website airport Eindhoven). From Eindhoven Railway Station there are Den-Haag-bound intercity trains (2 per hour) calling at Tilburg Railway Station and Breda-bound slow trains (2 per hour) calling at Tilburg Railway Station and Tilburg West Railway Station (Conference site). The train ride takes about 20 mins.
- From Schiphol Airport (near Amsterdam) you can travel directly from the airport to Tilburg Railway Station (for Tilburg town), changing in Rotterdam. Travel time from Schiphol Airport to Tilburg is 1 hour and 46 minutes. Train tickets are available for first class (24,80 euro; more luxurious) and second class (15,50; common) train coaches.
- From Schiphol Airport you can also travel directly from the airport to Tilburg West Railway Station (for Tilburg University campus), changing in Duivendrecht and 's-Hertogenbosch. Travel time from Schiphol Airport to Tilburg West is 1 hour and 37 minutes. Train tickets cost 24,80 euro (first class) or 15,50 euro (second class).
- From Brussels Airport, take the shuttle train to Brussels North; change there
for trains in the direction of Amsterdam, and change at Roosendaal for local train to Tilburg West and Tilburg.
Through train tickets are now sold at the airport.

Tilburg can be reached by train from almost anywhere in Europe. See European timetable or domestic timetable. Note that Tilburg town is located in front of the station Tilburg, while Tilburg University is located near the station Tilburg West (2 kms to the west). - By Car
- From Schiphol Airport, take Motorway A4 to Den Haag, then follow Motorways A13 and A16 via Rotterdam and Dordrecht to Breda. 4 km south of Breda take Motorway A58 to Tilburg. and leave the motorway at Exit 11 (afrit 11; Tilburg/Goirle/Turnhout) into Tilburg.
- From Brussels Airport, take Motorway A1 (E19) to Antwerpen. Once on the Antwerp ring road follow the signs Breda, and continue to follow Motorway A1 (E19) to The Netherlands. From the border on the name of the motorway is A16. 4 km before Breda take Motorway A58 to Tilburg and leave the motorway at Exit 11 (afrit 11; Tilburg/Goirle/Turnhout) into Tilburg.
- Coming from the direction Breda take Motorway A58 in the direction Tilburg and leave the motorway at Exit 11 (afrit 11; Tilburg/Goirle/Turnhout) into Tilburg.
- Coming from the direction Eindhoven take Motorway A58 in the direction Tilburg and leave the motorway at Exit 11 (afrit 11 Tilburg-West/Goirle) into Tilburg.
- Coming from the direction 's-Hertogenbosch take Motorway A65 in the direction Tilburg. At the junction with follow Motorway A58 in the direction Tilburg and leave the motorway at Exit 11 (afrit 11 Tilburg-West/Goirle) into Tilburg.
- Coming from the direction Turnhout (Belgium) take Route N12 (from the border on called Route N283) straight into Tilburg.
- Coming from the direction Waalwijk take Route N261 straight into Tilburg. Within Tilburg follow the signs Centrum for the town centre.

Getting to Tilburg University
It may be noted that the Dutch name for Tilburg University is Universiteit van Tilburg
(abbreviation UvT) and the Dutch word for university is universiteit. The former Dutch name of Tilburg University is Katholieke Universiteit Brabant (abbreviation KUB).
The abbreviations UvT and KUB, as well as universiteit are often used on signposts.
- By IMPS2005 conference busservice:
On conference days (July 5-8) IMPS2005 will run a shuttle bus between the hotels listed
below and Tilburg University Campus. In the morning at about 8:00 AM, shuttle busses
will collect conference participants at the following hotels: Postelse Hoeve,
Bastion, Ibis, Hotel Gilze-Rijen. In the afternoon and after the conference diner,
the shuttle bus will bring you back to the hotel.
- By train:
By slow train (in Dutch: stoptrein) from Tilburg Railway Station to Tilburg West Railway Station. (Note that Tilburg West Railway Station is depicted in the upper right corner of the map of the campus). - By bicycle
Tilburg is small enough to get around by bicycle, and it may be easier to reach the University (especially from the outlying hotels) by bicycle. They can be rented cheaply from the bicycle shop underneath Tilburg Train Station; phone: (013) 543.6194 (€ 7.30 per day, deposit € 50, ID required).
There is a separate bicycle path directly from the center to the University. - By Taxi
There is a taxi stand at Tilburg Railway Station (but not at Railway Station Tilburg West); phone: (013) 583.8383. If you take a taxi, be sure to tell the driver you do not want to go to the main entrance of the University (which is further from the Conference and will cost you about € 5 extra). Ask the driver to take you to the corner of Hogeschoollaan and Prof. Verbernelaan. (Hoek Hogeschoollaan Prof. Verbernelaan) This is directly across from the entrance of the conferencesite in Building Y.
